motor mounts options?
motor mounts options?
So Ive been putting off buying new motor mounts since I am a very broke college student. BUT I just got a surplus in student loans so I will be replacing all my motor mounts.
Yeah well from what I was told from the shop...all 4 motor mounts have to be replaced. I think they were only talking about the inserts so which ones would be the best option? I have searched around and people say homemade polyurethane mounts seem to work really good but I dont have the time or the skill to do it...I have read that if they arent cured long enough they will break. So anyone have any suggestions??

Your only other option is OEM or filled mounts(takes too long to cure and I dont think you have spare mounts)..
OR
Replace your front engine mount with a 5-speed mount and get the ES bushings, rear mounts are the same.

which are better, filled mounts or ES mounts? and would it be worth it to go the extra trouble for either of them?
how hard is it to get the inserts in there? that's my only concern because i don't know if i can find someone willing to punch out the material and put the inserts in for me and from what i've read that's what needs to be done. i don't have the time to look around for a place to do it for me.

you can get that flaxane from mcmaster Carr. i paid like 33 dollars shipped to my house. Jime how do you like the filled mounts, any weird or excess vibrations? I haven't put mine in my car yet still waiting for snow to clear up. I noticed that these are really hard and just wanted to get some feedback on the 94 flaxane cause most people seem to get the 80.
Its because most of our stock mounts are shot, and its too costly for OEM ones. Filling them will polyurethane is much cheaper and provide a good solid mounting point, but is not as good for reducing NVH as stock ones.
BTW, how long does that stuff take to fully cure?

I just came back from the nissan dealer and got a price quote on all 4 motor mounts...$700!!!! but they would give it to me for $500...I was like wtf!!! and install would be 5.5hours!!! so all together it would cost 1G...
So how hard is it to replace the motor mount inserts? I have a couple of friends that go to autos class at the county college and they have access to a lift and all the tools...do you guys think these guys can handle the job or am I better off taking it to some shop?
