Weird starting problem....PLEASE HELP
Weird starting problem....PLEASE HELP
hey, im having some trouble....at first, my car missed and had alot of trouble starting, but it started not starting at all this week. I bought a new battery, grounded 4 points (tranny, starter bolt, intake manifold, and neg battery cable) and had to PUSH start the car because of all the fuel that was in there (from trying to start it so many times unsuccessfully)...it stumbled very badly, and ran very rough for the first few minutes. I parked the car, and then tried to start it again. It would not start, it stumbles BADLY, and the RPM's fluctuate to 1k rpms when trying to start, I know the tach isn't supposed to move, what sensor could this be? Before I push started the car, I replaced the cam sensor and crank sensor. Maybe one of them were bad...I'm just pissed I spent all this time sanding down grounding points, buying a new battery, just to have the damn thing not work. Has anyone had this problem?
I'm gonna ground the tranny a bit better tomorrow, but I doubt that's the problem....my car doesnt seem to start at all.
Thanks, I appreciate any help on this matter...

when you said it ran very rough for the first few min, how bad was it? also how did it run after the few min? did you tighten the belt, heard certain people tighten their belt too much and could not start. also when you bought the new battery did it do the samething?
1st check your belt that it is not too tight
2nd check your starter, it might be going out.
3rd I'm out of idea, need to study and go to bed.

how cold is it??
I've had to help start 3 cars just this week that had frozen gaz lines
if your gaz tank was below 1/4, that MAY be your problem...anyway, the symptoms match perfectly...won't start, will start but stumble then die, etc...
what I do:
1-hook it up to another running car to make sure the battery doesn't die.
2-turn the switch to on without starting, wait till the fuel pump pressure is up
3-turn the key back off, then on again 3-4 times (still waiting for fuel pump)
4-as soon a the wants to start, but with the sound, u know it will not, turn the key back off.
if you just have a litle ice in a gaz line, it will eventually move/break and u will be fine...
be prepared for it takes a while to get it started...up to an hour
and beware of too much cranking the engine...the starter will get HOT
another tip someone else tried, but not me...a hairdrier blowing hot air on the gaz lines...

I bought my battery yesterday, and yes, it still did the same thing.
well, i pulled the fuel pump fuse, and it started up (ONCE)...then i quickly put it back in, and the car ran a bit better...I replaced the spark plugs, the old ones were very black from carbon deposits. I can't hear the fuel system pressurize when i turn the car to "ON", but dont crank. I think the fuel pump is on it's way out, or is out already.
I can't get this car to start for the life of me...I walked to work, and i'll most likely have to walk to school tomorrow.
Has anyone ever had fuel pump issues like this?
The car cranks forever....just doesnt start..
Anyone..help..

bump....i noticed when i took off a ground cable, the rpm's jumped to 2k when i was trying to start...I have it grounded on the bolt holding in the tranny (nearest to the crank sensor)...could this be the issue, that i grounded the WRONG bolt?
I'm going to take apart my starter AGAIN...because it seems like it's been sticking (making the whirrrr sound when i try to start up)... Should I just buy a new starter?

#1 Check for stored codes in the ECU.
#2 Check the resistance of the engine coolant temp sensor.
#3 Buy a shop manual if you don't already have one. That takes the guess work out.
Which you are already unsuccessful in doing.
Follow those 3 easy steps and I'm sure you'll have the car starting like new in no time.
