interior coloring/painting options

I was planning on doing a two tone interior with black and tan since i dont really want to swap out everything for black, nor do i have the money.
well i've been collecting black pieces and i have gotten my black center console and door panel leather inserts.
recently i painted my door handle and the "cup" handle part black for contrast.
well the black's dont match and the paint was chipping off on the handles when i took them off.
it probably easier to simply buy black pieces from another maxima, but i thought painting would be a cheaper, more custom alternative.

so my question is, has anyone gotten their interior plastic pieces professionally painted? my center console has some scratches but i'm afraid if i get it sanded and painted i will have to do it to all of my black pieces for it to match.
anyone have any advice? or pictures would be nice as well.i

No need for professional paint. I've painted certain parts of my interior 3 times now. All it takes is a nice, light sanding to give the paint something to grab onto, clean it off, and paint. I usually use some sort of interior/exterior spray paint but I've used stuff like high temp. paint a number of times.

Wait, what are we talking about painting here? I think I'm confused...

Hmm I would suggest looking into a pro doing if you think you can't do it without having to do all the parts. But most likely to get everything to match your going to have to do all the black parts withthe same paint you're using.

I am acutally doing my all of my dash trim right now, due to I just molded a microvision in my dash, so I had to repaint anyway, however, I am just scuffing it with some 100 then laying a couple thin coats of auto primer, then a couple thin coats of a automotive paint I bought at Auto Zone. So far it is turning out nicely, I think I am even going to do a clear coat. However, if you are talking about repainting the cups, do to the size and make of them, I would just buy black, unless you have the time to do a lot of light coats. And, if your talking about painting the center console, you can dye it with vinyl die, because it is vinyled, if you paint it, it will end up flaking off. If you aren't to good with paint, I would have a pro do it, a little more expensive, however it would look good in the end, unless you are wanting to do a trial and error, and learn for yourself. Good luck!

I've painted a lot of things, but this is just one of them I'm not comfortable doing.
Thanks for the advice, I might send some stuff to tilley.
But like I said, its like I can't just do one piece, I gotta do it all. So dash, console, pieces.
This project is bigger than I thought.
The handle trims are trash since they've been painted, if I bought black. So that's really the only total loss if I decided to just purchase all black from another max.
So much for trying to be cheap.

im in the process of doing the same thing chillin. From nissan, door cup things are around $4 and the inner handles are 20(handle and lock). Thats the only advice I have. I would buy them factory black since they are used so often. When it comes to the dash and center console im oblivious.

You could use dye, I have saw parts dyed and couldn't tell they matched so well. That stuff will not scratch off, if you really want to do it I would suggest this.

i will check out dye for maybe the bigger things.

xtinct- i didnt realize that the cup things were so cheap, in that case i'll probably pick some up. i figured out that i used glossy black , and that could be half the problem, i should just stick with flat black.
eventually im going to get black seatbelts, ceiling handles, door panel speaker grilles, but metal ones not plastic.
