My uncle is going to check out my tranny this weekend b/c its been acting funny lately.I think that it may be on its way out. So I decided if it is why not just do a 5 speed conversion. Then I realized just to do a 3.5 swap. I read some other threads saying that the 6 speed doesnt fit in a fourth gen or isnt worth doing. Im thinking about a 3.5 with a 00-01 5 speed tranny.Any suggestions???Can I or should I do the 6 speed?? For those who have done this what was the cost of engine,tranny,conversion and labor?thanks in advance.

 

So you're going from you MAY have a problem with your tranny to swapping a VQ35 and VLSD 5-speed in? Don't count your eggs before they hatch man.

For some rough math lets say:

VQ35: 800
install: 1000
AE VLSD: 900
install/fab: 1000

3700


I hope that number is off but either way you are talking serious change.

 

Probably more if you get it done by someone who doesn't know much about nissans. On the other hand if your uncle is doing all the work you should be alright.
