why would you want to put one from your auto to your 5spd?

it doesnt do anything, but give you a check engine code for the transmission.

You can use an auto ECU in a 5spd, but you CAN'T use a 5spd one in an auto. You will get a check engine light when using an auto ECU in your 5spd, but it won't affect PERFORMANCE in any way. You'll just have a check engine light staring at you all the time. I have done this (auto ECU in a 5spd maxima) in 3 maximas (two of my own, and one that is in my friend's car).

BTW we call them ECUs around here incase you need to search for more info, you won't find much if you search for PCM.
