Wiper Jammed on 97 Maxima

Hey everyone,

I got a slight problem. I am from Ontario, and we had some pretty nasty weather lately, and yesterday my car was covered in ice. So i am ready to go out, and i clean my car off pretty well, but i guess i missed some ice on the windshield....so as i am backing out of my driveway, i put on the wipers and they got caught on some ice on the windshield... and now they are JAMMED
The wiper gets jammed about 1/4 of the way up the windhield, and it makes an annoying locking noise when it gets to the point where the ice used to be. I got out of the car and was able to guide the wiper past the area it gets jammed, but as soon as it goes down and goes back up, it gets caught in the SAME place. Pretty weird. I need some help! What do i do??

Yeah I have the same problem with mine, the passenger side goes all the way up but my drivers side doesn't. I'm getting a new driver side windshield wiper arm cause the threads are damaged on mine. Totally stripped so yeah.

Might be some ice blocking it or some internal damage.

Pop the circluar plastic cover off the bottom of the wiper arm closest to the bottom of the windshield.

Remove the bolt that holds the wiper arm to the wiper cowl thing.

take the arm off and look to see if the threads that hold it in place are stripped like darklegend's was...

How does the arm come off? I've taken off the cowl, and the nut on top, but I'm not quite sure how it comes off? Do you have to screw it off?

i'm trying to remove my wiper arm and after the nut comes off the arm is still locked in as if it was still bolted on. just tight since it's never been removed or something? is it just a matter of force to get it off or is there something i'm missing?

its just tight. rock it slowly while pulling up. it will come right off once the nut is gone.
