Buy yourself a Haynes manual for starters.

How many miles are on your vehicle. I know nothing about automatic trannies as I've never owned an automatic.

However, I do know that at 30K you should do a drain and fill and at 60K you should do a complete flush and follow that pattern at 30K increments thereafter.

Frankly, I wouldn't be bothered changing the ATF myself. Go to a lube joint and let them do it. Look for a deal. Let them worry about the fluid disposal.

The same applies to radiator flushes. I wouldn't bother doing that myself either. My last flush cost me Cdn$40 cash at a long-established radiator shop.

Similarly, I had my manual transaxle gear oil replaced this time last year at a Mr. Lube and it cost less than a dino oil and filter change.

Pay $20, gain the ability to search and you would find gems like this:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ght=ATF+Change

It's aptly titled "How to flush automatic transmission fluid?..."

Bad idea. You do not want to do that.

I also heard soap and gas burns forever.
