Heater not working?

All of a sudden my heater decides to quit working during one of the most coldest days of the year. Subzero temps here in Chicago. I know the blower is working, cuz it does blow air, but its cold. Mind you this is when the car is at normal operating temp. It blows a little warm air when i start moving, but when im sitting at a light or parked, it just blows cold air. What gives? My buddy who is a mechanic told me i might be low on anti-freeze, but i added some and that didn't help. Is there a particular fuse that i should look into that i might of overlooked. Checked the blower fuse, thats good, checked the Airconditioning fuse, thats good. This is starting to bother me cuz it is to freaking cold out. I need warmth.

Xmax,
Sounds like you need a new thermostat or there may be air in your system. I think if you flush your antifreeze and change your thermostat that will fix your problem.

Pretty good suggestions, but first see if your mechanic friend can test your cooling system.

I wonder if your heater core is plugged up.. or it could be your thermostat, is the temp needle about half way up between C and H?

you could be just low on coolant.same thing happend to me in my last car. cold air when standing and some heat while driving. checked that my coolant overflow bottle was empty and the radiator was low. added coolant to proper lever and the heat returned idiling and driving.

Yup needle is is half way between C and H. I filled the overflow bottle, and that didn't help either. Im not sure if the thermostat went bad cuz with this cold weather, it could be just the cold air keeping my engine from overheating. Ill prolly take a look at it when the weather is a bit nicer to work on my car.
