OMG you have a hostage ... J/K...

engine with the removed Rear main seal, for those who are curious

BTW this is a very important FACT> the tool I most used was the metal rod that comes with the jack in our cars... I think I used that tool for pretty much everything... (the rod which you hook to the jack and spins around it) not the hex head one.

what the hell... what sup with this.... today I went to the nissan dealer, and asked for the 11121-31U10 oil pan gasket... what the guy gave me is exactly as the one in the picture above... (post #44) but there is one difference.....
It only covers half of the distance of the bottom of the RMS.....
the gasket I removed from the old one, completely coverd half (50%) of the RMS, this one only aobut 25%.

Is this right? is it supposed to stretch or something.

EDIT: Ok, Stupid Nissan gave me the worng sela, they gave me the front seal, which is smaller.... luckyl I had ordered at a store near my house the same piece, so i was able to get the right now soon....
Now I realized why the seals that are not from nissan are not too good.... they don't fit.... so me and Bill (kid helping me) decided to cut out some of the inside of it, and add more RTV in it.... worked like a charm....
remember put RTV and put some engine oil around the edges...but it is still very hard to get the Rear mAin seal and the oil pan gasket in (took us 1 hours anf a half to do that alone.)

besides that, everthing went as normal....
to put the transmission in the place was hard...I had to bench press the transmission while Bill was trying to ajust from the top....
till it got dark.... PITA then it got dark and things slowed down alot....

ok I'm tired I will tell everything later.

I just wanted to conclude this thread, thanks everyone for all the help.... today I tried tightneing a bolt under the car (last one) and I think I damage the treads, the bolt is 8/10 in and is one of the bolts that hold the "shift rod support brakcet" the bolt that is hard to reach... is that a bad thing? should I try to get a mechanic to fully tighten that?

well besides that, I couldn't find out where one bolt goes... basicaly I'm misssing one bolt in my car.
another problem I had was, On the starter, I broke the negative cable screw. but luckly I had a second starter from my other car so I just swaped parts.

Axel, was a pain, until I realized I should remove the break hydraulics cable from the clip and I was able to put the axel in 10 seconds.

Alos I'm missing the dust booth from the fork in the tranny? should I cover that with something for now then buy on later? or should I get a new imediately?

I put Tranny oil, intake, battery, tire, made sure no other bolts were missing. lowered the car made a little prayer. then turned the key on.... The car turned on like nothing had happend for the past 3 weeks.... happiest moment of the day....

then just to make sure, I put it in gear and let the car move forward a few yards, jUST TO MAKE SURE IT WAS WORKING.

then I let it heat up, and drove a around the block... then 10 minutes later I got some money and went to the car wash ...

last question.... for the next 500 miles I should not force the clutch too much right? (like 2k - 3k rpm changes)

CAR SOUNDS GREAT AND FEELS GREAT, specialy with amisoil tranny fluid.

BTW did I meantion that, putting the tranny back in place by your self is almost impossible, unless you have a hoist, lift or somehitng liekl that.
I was alying in the floor with the tranny in my stomach while bill pulled from the top and tried to fit in place.

Congrats Guinader. Hopefully I will get enough cash this year to buy the parts for next year and do it myself hopefully.

Definitely cover the fork opening - if it rains water gets splashed there and you don't want any of that in the clutch housing.

That bench press idea must have been conjured up by midget weightlifters. Even with my front end lifted high, there is no way a normal person can clean lift that into place without someone pulling from above.

Anyway, if you take a ratcheting (come-along) strap, and loop it around the tranny exactly along the line where the two housings come together, it will securely hang and in good balance. I cut an old hockey stick to fit over my engine bay and was able to 'winch' it into position.

The bolt you're missing, if it's a big one, is probably bolts the engine flange to the tranny above the passenger side axle. To tighten the bracket bolt, use either a ratcheting wrench or an offset-head box wrench, or use a wobble socket and a really long extension to reach in alongside the passenger axle.

Congrats on a job done. (My first attempts are never well done, but if it's successful that's the key).

Dave

Are you sure the drops arent from your rear main oil seal? Or something higher up?

Also... hooked on phonics dude. It works.

they are, the rear main seal is new along with the rubber gasket in there.... you can see it in my pictures..... well either way... it is leaking right thre, and to replace it, I have to remove the whole thing
that is why I'm angry..

what do you mean phonics... is that the stuff you put in your engine oil and it seals all the cracks?
