4gen with rims and NO drop, Lemme see em!
When you guys are putting on 17" or 18" wheels, are you staying with the same rolling diameter tires as stock? Or are you living with a speedo that's out a bit?
Some of the cars in this thread seem to have less fender gap than others.
Frodo's looks too good w/o a drop. I think either the tires are oversize or he's got a dead body in the trunk. But it "looks" lowered (very nice).

In my deceased car I hit a crater hole doing a solid 3mph in traffic, bending the rim and almost smashing my head through the window to boot. That was just on 16" rims with low profile tires, god forbid I was on aftermarket springs too. I can only imagine how many accidents were caused by that pothole before they fixed it. Im just going to paint my SE's black but If I decide to get rims in the end im definetaly staying away from those low profile tires, ride is too stiff and they are useless in the rain and snow.

if youre not going to drop then dont waste your money on rims. the wheel gap will be even more obvious and make the car look like a wanna be.
4th gen maxima's wheel gap is just too ridiculous. pictures dont tell how ridiculous they really look.

I've put a set of 5 speed front spring in my automatic, it braught the front down about 1/3 to 1/2 inch which made the front and rear gaps perfectly even. So it's basically at a "stock" ride height. Judge the gap for yourself. Compair the front to the rear, then look at another stock car. My front gap is noticably smaller then what it should be at the stock ride height.

That looks good. I think thats what I'm gonna do, just get the 5spd fronts. Do the 5spd rears drop the rear again? I don't see why the rear would be any different though... And in my opinion I would do a drop first if I was into looks. Rims with no drop looks cheap most of the time. Frodos looks nice, looks like the stock SE tires also, which are taller then what the 4th gen has stock i believe.

I'm dropping before rims as well. Rather have it look good while I save money for the rims. Wouldn't want a bigger gap or bad look all that time I had to save again for suspension parts. Just my $.02
everyone is saying "im dropping before rims" well might I add I bought the car on a thursday, put the rims on the friday night, screwed a few studs due to using my old nuts from the cavalier by mistake (duh... hehehe) and fortunately i have contacts so I was able to get my studs the saturday and get them replaced on the sunday, and i got the drop done the next thursday SO it was all planned heheh
i never really got to drive it with 15s and OEM suspension, but it must be a really smooth ride heheheheh

All in all, you can probably get a good entire coilover deal for about 200 more than shocks+struts....plus you can adjust them.

your car will be very high.
Drop your car, it will look 65341635165 times better with 18's.

This isnt a bad thing, experience is everything right? Thats what's keeping me from putting the springs on. I need to decide whether i can afford struts or not.

18 on 45 might help compared to 18's on 40 maybe? 17's on 50? Too much? Trying to see the best comfiguration without drop.
And yes, I know, drop will look better
