Stock Bose....

Hey, I know I'm gonna get ripped on for not searching... but I'm a 5th genner, and my friend has a 95 max with bose. When she puts a cd in, it sounds like it's reading it... then says "ERR" and spits the cd out. Common problem? Is there a fix? What can she do if she doesn't really want to go aftermarket. Thanks... and go easy on me lol.

It's relatively straight forward for someone who knows how to carefully take apart electrical stuff and solder decently. It took me an hour to completely disassemble the electrical boards, find the 4 broken resistors and reheat the solder to get rid of the cracks. Works like its brand new!

That's good to know. I have the CD read problem myself. I think this will be my weekend project.

Mine has trouble sometimes playing CDs to the end. Commercial music CDs are fine. If I burn a CD myself, it will play about halfway and then I get the ERR message. Any thoughts?

Yeah, you're burning bum cds. Nothing to do with the radio.

yeah. I've heard that you need to burn the CD at a slower speed. It's a pain and takes longer, but at least your player will play it. Get Sony Music CD-R's. Those are the only ones I've been able to burn and play in my '96 Bose. Burn between 4x-8x if you can.

I've tried a couple different brands with no success. I'll give the Sonys a try. I've had a few commercial books on CD not work either so I was thinking it was just the radio.

That is also possible. I'll try some burned cds tonight to see if they work or not, they were working in my 2k3 spec-v so that should say if it's the bose radio that is older and picky. Good advice on going sony too, let us know if it works fo ryou as well.
