Alternator Questions

I'm up for an alternator and belts soon, so I had a couple of questions...

1. My parts source tells me there are two alternators: a 110-amp and a 125-amp. He says they fit differently, so I need to make sure I get the right one. My car is a '95 SE (manufactured 5/94). Any tips?

2. Is anyone aware of a manufacturer that sells performance alternators that will produce the same or more amperage with greater efficiency for less mechanical drag?

Thanks to anyone who can help...

I just had my 110 amp alternator replaced with the cheaper priced 125 amp one. I bought it from O'Reilly's no one could tell me why it cost less than the 110 one, not even the dealer. But they all said it wouldn't be a problem using it. 3 months later no problems

You could always fit a second alternator! There's a hifi maniac down the road from me, he has three alternators fitted under the hood of a tricked-out VW Jetta. The whole of the rear of the Jetta is speakers and the whole of the trunk is full of amps.
