Purchase another 4th Gen?!

Considering purchasing another 4th Gen at what may be an awesome price. 1 question though. The car is a 1996 GLE, with 138k. Carfax on it says it failed 2005 emissions, then passed 11 days later. Is this necessarily a bad thing? Looks to be in pretty good shape, carfax showed 1 owner, and there are periodic readings indicating the owner took it for its scheduled dealer inspections.

If it weren't for this one thing, I'd probably jump on it, but what makes me cautious is the fact that my 97 with 218K has never failed an inspection since I got her at 19k. Maybe this means nothing, maybe it does.

Input please!

It might be that it had a bad O2 sensor, I don't think it sounds like a major issue. What is the asking price? Is it close to where you live? Is it a 5-spd or an Auto?

That’s what I was thinking. Im waiting on the owners response though. Sale would be local so that’s very convenient, and it's an auto which I own now and love. I think Im going to entertain this sale if we can get a solid price on it.

Thanks man! Just wanted another ear on this.
