i'm changing mine tomorrow and i was told the ngk's are oem and the best for our car. problem is ngk makes a g-power platinum, oe style laser iridium, standard, v-power, oe style laser platinum and iridium IX plugs. i'm guessing standard is the oem part, but if anyone has good experiences with anything else i'm willing to shell out a couple extra bucks to try it out.

Iridium IX plugs FTW!!!!! I use them and thought they were good but I asked GTR_Rider and Iridium is quite a bit better than platinum so there ya go. Spark plugs are spark plus though, get a good set and they do their job.

is it really worth the extra cash? 6.99 a plug, vs platinums for 3.99. is there any change in smoothness or ease of starting? my car is having an issue starting and i'm hoping a change in plugs will help. i know iridiums last longer but is that the only advantage?

The iridium plugs are marketed as saying they cause a more efficient combustion than anything else, which in turn is suppose to improve your gas economy.

well I know its a little bit smoother but not that noticable. they last forever and its hard for them to foul/corrode obviosly hence iridium thats why. platinums are most likely just as good but if you want to know you have the best get the iridium IX

If your not boosted your better off just getting copper or platinum. Iridium would be a waste of money.

I think the Iridiums are actually cheaper than the platinums. (depending on where you buy them.)

I suggest copper. Don't last as long as the platniums, only last about 30K, but a stronger spark.

I like them
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=417104

Advanced has them, part #6953
NGK part #: BKR5E-11

Not to be too stupid, but I too am used to seeing the plugs right in plain sight. What all has to be removed to get to the plugs? Is it hard and what kind of time frame are we looking at? My Jeep is a sinch they are all right there on top not hidden as the ones on my Maxima seem.
