odd sound in engine bay

Car's a '96 auto with 150,000 miles. I'm getting this weird "rumbling/gargling" type of sound coming from the engine bay. I've noticed for a while but its gotten considerably worse. Its most noticeable at idle and it keeps making the sound in intervals but doesnt stop. Its coming from the general timing chain area. Drivability is good but that sound worries me. No codes except for Evap valve code. Anyone have any ideas what it is?
