?'s for fuel filter (fluid forum confused me!)

Hey guys, I was just reading the fluid forum because I'm changing oil this weekend and was thinking of doing air and fuel filters too. I was confused on what to do with the fuel filter. Couple people said to go with the 300zx filter. Anyone done this? How's the clearance and installation? Part number & just from Nissan dealer? Thanks for the help!

Dunno how to do, maybe there's a how-to somewhere, but the 300z fuel filter has a bigger area but I don't really know what that means lol.

Me either. They said the larger diameter was better for particales and s**t. I don't know. I'll probably just do regular OEM filter.

I've read that thread. It's not what I want. I need to know about 300zx filters. Not how to change it.

:edit: Vlasic do you use the 300zx filter?

I actually just did a a fuel filter change a few days ago from stock, and decided to try out the 300zx filter because the guy said I could bring it back if it didnt work out.

So with the normal pains of changing your fuel filter, I also found that even though most people claim the connections are the same size, the connections on the 300zx filter seems to be a little bigger.

Ive changed my fuel filter once from stock to stock, and now from stock to 300zx, and in the prior change, I was able to do it myself. In the 300zx switch over however, I managed to get the bottom hose on with some difficulty, but when it came to the top hose, I had to call a freind over and it ended up with me under the car pushing up as hard as I can on the filter and my freind pushing the hose down as hard as he could.

However, I will vouch for the filter, it FEELS(key word) like the power is somewhat smoother and that it starts a tad quicker, and runs a little better when in nuetral, park, or at a stop. No definite increase in power mind you, but you didnt expect much of that out of a fuel filter right?

Over all, its just my little opinion, but I recomend it, if nothing, it lasts longer than the stock one right? Atleast you gained something out of it. As for purchasing them, go to an autozone or NAPA or something and tell them a "96 300ZX non-turbo fuel filter" and get a WIX or purilator brand. (NAPA has a "NAPA GOLD" filter which is really just NAPA's cover for the WIX brand.) If you have any questions, pm me, or kevlo (the guy who answered the same questions you just asked when I was asking him)

Yes I currently have a 300zx fuel filter. And like I said, the only benifit is that it last longerl, but since its bigger than the maxima filter, you gotta use some zip ties to make it stay in the holder. I think the maxima filter is suppose to be changed out every 30k miles, the 300zx is rated for about 60k miles I think.

Just continue using the stock oem fuel filter....there is no reason to use any other. The Z filter lasts longer? ..well,its better to change the fuel filter at regular intervals rather than leave it in for "longer than usual". When it comes to filters, especially oil filters, oem is the way to go...imo

This isn't an oil filter thread. I asked about fuel filters. And the whole point of the 300zx filter is so that the changing interval is longer...its not like its bad for the car.

I know its about fuel filters, CDG...just stressing that oem filters are the best bet in replacement....mm'kayy. If the Z fuel filter works out for you, go for it....but its recommended to replace every 15-20 k anyways.
