Problem With my Max

Today I was getting on the highway and had to pnch the throttle to get in front of some jerkoff but when I punched it there was no reaction for almost to or 3 seconds then it took off like normal.I notice it is been hesitating in power when I drive it normal. It don't feel like the tranny and the fluid is good. Some people suggested to me the egr or the fuel filter. What are your opinions?

First thing you need to do is check for codes in the ECU. There are a lot of sensors that affect power. Apart from that, how many miles does it have, hows it start, hows the idle? When did you last change plugs, filters?

its a 98 with 105k.Sometimes when I start it(cold start) the rpms go down like its gonna die to 100-200 rpms and bounces back up to normal sometimes it has died and It usually has a sweaky noise coming from the belts but the belts are good.

Clean your throttle body and IACV to correct your morning start.

The Maxima transmission is not the fastest reacting tranny. Depending on what speed you were at when you "punched" it, it probably just didn't down shift very fast.

I suspect the delay you felt was normal.

Agreed. There seem to be 'certain speeds' that affect this. Sometimes if I happen to be doing the 'wrong' speed when I hit the loud pedal, there's a delay, then it shifts down, the revs are pretty high, then it quickly shifts up again. As if the tranny is saying to itself, "Oh! Do I *really* have to downshift at this speed? Oh well, OK . . . . . There, see!? Too many RPM, so I am going to shift back up again..."

So I takes a whole 2-3 seconds to react? That seems kinda dangerous if u need to pass a car and the car won't get up.Luckily the truck that I had to pass was a 4cyl ranger

Well you can still pass a car without flooring it.. youll pick up just fine and not worry about downshifting.
