Brake problem reappeared
About 3 weeks ago I changed the front pads, and then a week later had total brake failure. Master cyl. was empty. The garage put it on the lift, we couldn't find any sign of a leak so the guy reckoned it was my fault for not checking and topping up the fluid after the new pads got broken in.
Today, I found some kind of fluid on the floor. Didn't look like engine oil. A reddish colour. Checked under the car and can't see any leaks, except, I noticed a fluid stain on the inside of the RH front wheel. Definitely fluid coming from that area.
So I suppose I'll have to change the RH front caliper.
I don't believe in recon kits (seal kits) for front brakes. The rears, yes, I'd take a chance. Not on the front discs though.
I decided to recheck all the fluids. Found the motor oil overfull - to the second detent in the metal measuring stick - and the tranny looks like it needs half a litre, so I will take care of both of those tomorrow as well.
