Whats Better? OEM Foglights or aftermarket Foglights?

Hey Guys I wanted to get some foglights. But Im not sure which one I wanna get... Should I go with the Stock Foglights for my 98 maxima or should I get some aftermarket ones. I want something that is bright and not very expensive. I would love to hear everyones input..

Thanks

IMO OEM fogs look cleaner on a Max, the aftermarket ones look too unnatural.

Gotta agree with 99 on this one. IMO the OEM fogs. I think they look better too. Unless you have a kit or something with different holes. Aftermarket just don't fit right on the max. But just my $.02

Yeh I think the OEM light output isnt as strong as some of the aftermarket fogs you can buy...but overall appearance wise, OEM definitely finish off the front end of the Maxima nicely.

OEM all the way. Like other said, aftermarket don't look right and the max looks naked without... I got Nokya Yellow H3's in mine...looks real nice

OEM = better looks/appearance

Aftermarket = cheaper/better light output (possibly)

i say if you can get your hands on them, go OEM for sure.

Retro some aftermarket fogs into OEM housings. Best of both worlds.

But really, the OEM fogs don't do a great job of illuminating the road as other fogs do...

^Yes, very true... I can't stand the beam pattern or how they look when they're on.

I found the best foglight is a OEM with the glare guard removed... much brighter. =)

$149 on ebay for oem fogs, with brackets. Get a new turning signal stalk(switch) with fog light switch(if u want a stock look), get wiring and you're done

deffinitly OEM, look way better and if you do a 9007 conversion the slightly less output wont matter.

2nd on the annoying glare from cheap aftermarket fogs

OEM for the looks, but they really dont do anything. Output stinks.

Aftermarket for output, but I think it looks horrible on our cars.

Oem looks best IMO, but I am sure for the money you can get brighter ones just might look out of place.

I like OEM,but mine broke, or atleas the lens did. I have the CE fogs that are 24.99 or something like that. I like how they illuminate the ground compared to stock.

As stated above, go OEM...but do something with them. Get some nice H3 projectors to retro in them or get some 3000k HIDs for in them or something.

hmm, $200 OEM fogs or $30-$50 aftermarket fogs that won't look as good but will have a better light output and cost almost nothing compared to OEM. Hmmm, tough choice.

I've been thinking about the fog retro, wouldn't the existing lens screw up the beam pattern?

the beam pattern is the part that blows. the light output is secondary.

Wrong, HIDs in the fogs will make the situation worse.

You'd have to take out the lens screw and aim the projector manually and hope that its aimed perfectly before you seal up the fogs.

You may want to try and find a way to sand it down to get rid of some of the etched-in pattern.

It will make it worse and better at the same time. I realize the stock fogs suck, but so do the stock headlights and people put HIDs in them.

I definitely have to agree with most others, go with the OEM. May cost a little more but it is worthy it for a good look

If your lookin for good quality aftermarkets, check these out from CE:

http://www.customenterprise.com/view.../vts/design017

their awsome, and have a great cutoff, just like HIDs

I bought a pair and will be installing them once its warmer outside, I'll also be lookin to make some covers to fill in the rest of the space around the fog in the stock opening.

another good thing about these fogs is that mount from up top, so you can hang then anywhere, and the mounting holes the stock fog light bracket are in perfert postion to be used if you find yourself some 10mm bolts.

good luck man

HIDs are a waste of good money unless you have projector retrofits.
the beam pattern of the stock lights, head & fog, aren't designed for HID bulbs, you'll shoot light everywhere but the road, and blind everyone else unless you have projectors to aim the light where you want it

I don't know who you're preaching to, I hope not me I have E46 bi-xenon projectors...

My point was that HID retrofits in fogs aren't entirely useless, as you make them out to be. Not as good as they could be, but not useless.

people put HIDs with projectors in them, those who just put in a HID kit with no projectors, well, let's not talk about them.

exactly, thats what I ment, didn't mean to preach tatanko, I highly respect anyone with projector headlights, especially bi-xenon ones, I just wish i was able to save up that kinda money . . . some day

I wonder if those'll fit inside of a OEM fog...
