I dont have a pic but it does indeed have it's own ground and upgrading it WILL make quite a noticeable difference in its performance immediately. The ground is a 12 GA black wire about a foot or so long that runs from a bolt on the driver side housing to a point on the chassis about 6" behind the driver side motor mount. I have a CAI so it's very easy to get to but if you don't it will help to remove the factory air intake and the spashguard under the radiator/engine. I replaced it with a 4 GA audio power cable with ring terminals. Shift is much smooter, particularly the harsh 1-2 shift, and the tranny seems much more responsive to the throttle than before. It may be my imagination but it also seems to hold high RPM's just a little bit longer before upshifting during full throttle acceleration. Hope this helps.
I have two links for you:
Shows pictures of where people grounded...I think on the 7th or 8th page.

Discussion oh how grounding improves performance, if at all:

I plan on running ground wires to starter and tranny when it gets warmer.
