Alternating bumper lights

any one remember how to make it so that while the turn signals are flashing, they will alternate with the site markers or have a link to the write up for it? i've tried searching but no dice.

do you mean have both of the bumper lights blinking, but alternating with eachother? never really heard/seen it done, but semms simple enough. just a little wiring work.

I'm curious...would this result in the side marker being off then unless the turn signals were turned on, or would it still be on constant and just blink when the turn signals were on?

Good question. I wonder the same.

Tatanko, found our answer
" the wireing should result in alternate blinking with lights are on...
markers blinking in sync when lights are off,
and normal marker operation when not blinking"

That will only work with the parking lights on. It won't alternate when its not on.

Okay, I'm a total n00b when it comes to electronics, when it says tap a wire from the turn signal to the sidemarker, does that mean get a new wire and connect it to the green to black wire? Also on when you cut the black wire on the sidemarker, do you leave the top half of the wire alone to hang?

Tapping a wire can be just splicing off the coating and wrapping the new wire around the exsisting and then wrapping electrical tape. Thats the easiest way. You can buy a wire tap if you'd like from Radioshack. But just the same as tapping it directly. Dont leave wires haning ever. Always wrap them up with electrical tape.

Even though I almost always have my parking lots on while I'm driving, it seems to defeat the purpose here. There's got to be a way to wire them up to alternate without the parking lights on.

Even better...I'd like the side markers to blink in sync with the actual turn signals, rather than alternate.

I did this today, and it works just as advertised! when lights are not on, they blink together, when the lights are on the blink alternately. And it doesn't alter the foglight rewire mod either.

Interesting...

When you say it doesn't alter the fog rewire, what did you tap for signal for the fogs?

I tapped into power on the pass side parking lamp for the fog light mod, and the ground is the one you cut on that lamp for the alternating blinker mod.

you shoulda just tapped the accessory signal to the wiper relay, for your fog lights. It's been corrected so that using your wipers doesnt affect the operation of the fogs.

I'm too tired to think...if I did this mod and cut the power wire to my side markers (so that they didn't come on with the clearance lights) would they still light up with the turn signals if I did this mod, or not? I'm debating whether or not to just pull the bulb to my sidemarkers and call it a day, since I like the cleaner look without them...but if I can put them to good use for side indicators of the turn signals, all the better. If my limited knowledge of electricity and my understanding of how this mod works serve me right, I'm guessing no.

If no, could I possibly wire this all up a different way to achieve what I want?

Make sure to solder all the connections and finish with electrical tape...

You need to find the blinker wire (27 watt i believe) and run it to the power of the side light. So the light should light yup and blink at the same time. Kinda like the bumper rewire mod from VQ. Seems like its backwards on this. Just try wiring it. If it's wrong you'll blow a fuse. Just replace it. It should be fairly that easy tho.
