Water pump cost

HOw much have you paid to have your water pump replaced? Is doing it yourself really worth the pain and suffering you will endure?? I work on everything myself but the water pump seems like a very difficult job. Wondering if it's worth the cussing and bleeding to save some money....

What do u think?

To me it was worth doing myself. The pump was $100 from Nissan. Alot of shops charge about $300-$500 to swap out the pump. There are some really good write ups on here to make it easier. If i were to explain it in two words it would be "Time Consuming". Other then that, its nothing you can handle

You wont bleed if you are careful.

I'd say $150 for labor.

I am also looking into replacing the water pump myself as well. It doesn't look too hard and as matty said, there are good writeups on how to do it:

If you order online, here are 2 places that have them:

http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...Category_Code= - $86.40
or
http://www.nissan-parts-online.com/ - Use code "march2006" to get %10 off until the end of march.

I want to order from one of these places but, the only problem I have is can anyone give me the correct part number for the water pump. When I went onto courtesy nissan to see the price, they had one part number. When I went to nissan parts online site, they had 3 other part numbers all for a 95-99 VQ30 engine.

Also, what were some of your reasons for changing your pump? I have this rattle noise that increases with rpm coming from the timing chain side of the engine. I also had a under drive pully on the car that I removed because it looked like it was wobbling off axis.
