ECU upgrade or Exhaust?

I'm ready to do my next mod but which one should I do first? I am debating between finishing up my exhaust with the custom enterprise test pipe (which they say gives 11.2 hp but who knows how accurate that is) and a cattman cat-back or either a JWT or Technosquare ECU upgrade. Which should I go with first?

well, whatever you do, you should just check the test pipe right off your list. it is definitely not worth the investment. if your cat is going bad, you would be better off getting a cat from ebay or something.

if your exhaust is rusting, get a new exhaust before an ECU. but if both are in good condition, you would probably get more out of the ECU if you don't care about improving the sound. also, the ECU leaves the opportunity for a new IM in the future.

I agree do not bother with the test pipe, I would also say what are your future plan with the max, and will you care that with the ecu you will have to run 91+ gas, I do not know where you live but gas is high here

Get a VI.... IMO the ECU isn't worth it w/o it.

I have to agree with NmexMAX.

ECU ($500) (15HP)
Catback ($450+) (5-8HP) (GReddy)
VI ($100-$300) (30+ HP at redline with room to improve ... and a few ponies at low end)

Clearly VI (00VI not MEVI) takes the cake.

I was set to buy a 00VI from Turbo95max but after I was ready to pay, he dissappeared. I'm tired of chasing these things around. I'm just gonna hold off on the 00VI until I have more time and do an easy bolt on.

www.car-part.com is great for initial hardware... visit the AM forum for further information regarding what needs to be done.

If you have no desire to be chasing items, then stop modding. The cars require some leg work in order to get what you want done...I've done my share, you must be patient.

Yeah I know how that is. I checked on car-part.com and they got the manifold. I just think it's gonna be harder finding all the egr stuff and all the little things i'll find out I need half way into the job.

Contact Turbo95Max. He is selling me the whole kit minus the TB and rear valve cover for $375 plus shipping. I know he had a few kits but i'm not sure how many he has left.

go with the exhaust, when you're done with that, do the ecu. Get JWT, it's a 7200rpm limit

From what i've read and correct me if i'm wrong, JWT is a good upgrade for people with a MEVI or 00VI and Technosquare is better for the stock manifold and other bolt-ons.

Technosquare doesn't reprogram A32 ECU's anymore

It's 7000 limit unless you specify.

Not worth the $$. But with a VI it makes it almost worth it.

Whaat?? when did they stop doing it for the 4th gens? Not that big of a loss, its not like we cant, tune ourselves with a SAFC or VAFC, except for timing.
