Y-pipe total cost

for those who have replaced their Y-pipes, I'm just wondering what was the total cost of purchasing and installation... doesn't apply to those who put in the y-pipes themselves... I'm just trying to get a general view of how much it would cost to bring it to a shop and install them... thanks

COME ON MAN ... Y-Pipe installation is SOOO easy. It is just a few bolts off and then put them back in on the new pipe. It was my first mod I ever did to my car by myself.

Personally I find the satisfaction in modding partially in the installation itself.

Yes this thread doesn't apply to me, but I was trying to encourage a fellow org member to try new things, explore the car, learn some new things, and perhaps have fun. I didn't mean it in a negative way.

To be honest, I learned a lot about O2 sensors, their positioning, the order of exhaust components, etc. ... good luck either way to the thread creator.

If you've seen any if not all of the thread starters posts, you'll know to steer clear from telling them to try anything on their own...

Try doing that on a northern car, not gonna happen. Winter can make doing any exhuast work yourself impossible. It cost me $100 to have mine installed.

I think my friend paid 75 bucks? If its rusty and your not confident I wouldn't attempt it.. might get frustrating if you have to torch bolts off or anything. If you were near me ide help, find an orger in your area!

Exactly, I tried for a couple hours but everything was so rusted I had to take it to a mechanic. They ended up having to torch off the old cat bolts, installation ended up costing $75. If I had to do it again, I would probably try myself, but only since I now have a set of air tools.

I did my car ... supposedly the previous owners lived in Conneticut. BTW I did without airtools. Just brace yourself, put your leg on something, and you will be surprised how much pressure you can apply.

yea sometimes you need to torch the bolts connected to the cat and maybe sometimes on the exhaust manifold. dont want to really use air tools since the bolts are old because it will break. use some wd-40 if you are going to do it yourself.

i would say 60-80bux depending on what they need to do + whatever ypipe you are buying.

I would set a base price at $40 and depending on if they snap things in the process that will inflate the cost.
