squeeky noise ?????????

hey now everybody

quick question. when i go over even small bumps in the street i hear a squeeking noise that appears to be coming from the front driver's side wheel area. what do you think the problem is? shocks? struts? both?!

any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I bet your muffler bearings just need to be greased.

Jokes aside, your bushings in the front A-arms are probably worn. Could be the strut too.

Me and my friend both had a squeek in the front end everytime we went over even the smallest bumps to the point where it was embarrassing to drive the car it sounded like crap. We replaced the sway bar and sway bar link bushings since they were rotted and that fixed the problem for both of us. The bushings are cheap and you can install them yourself. Check them and see if you have any cracks in them. If so, that could be the problem.

Try spraying wd-40 to all viewable parts under the fender that looks movable in particular where the strut and coil assembly makes contact with the car and also where the spring sits on the strut. Also sometimes the strut might be all worn causing sqeaks, but the wd-40 might offer you a temporary fix.

I just did all that on my Maxima, and it didn't fix the problem I was having...

Turned out to be the shock mount on the passenger side up front... I was going to check the shocks to make sure they were bolted down tightly and the passenger shock just spun quite easily under very little force or the wrench, and squeaks when I turn it...

So... I'm guessing its the upper shock mount or the shock itself... who knows... I just bought some AGXs, and need to get a new mount... hopefully that will fix the problem.
