at full lock you can hear the power steering pump whine a little bit.

Do you hear this noise every time you reverse at full lock? Two parts could be colliding.

A 'clunk clunk clunk' sound when you are turning at full lock, is quite possibly the CV joint failing. Jack the car up and put it on stands so you can turn the front wheels freely from side to side. Have someone do that for you while you check that the tyres are not fouling anything under there. If there's nothing getting in contact with the rotating surfaces, check the rubber boots (covers) where the axle enters the hub. Are the boots secured properly, with a plastic band holding the covers on? Are the rubber covers intact? You'll quite probably find something amiss by the sound of it.

it could be his strut bearings or he just might need to grease his turns stops.
