depends who you talk to about the life of their tranny. some A/T guys have had their auto last them the life of the car, all the way up past 200,000 miles with innumerable WOT runs, while some others have had to replace their A/T more than once by that point. I think that the general concensus might be (though its always hard to tell) that manual trannies hold up better especially under more power, but that the auto can do okay as well. There are many people though, who will swear against the auto like it was responsible for WWII, and I've heard a couple guys swear off the M/T just as bad. So pick your poison lol.

My mistake I was thinking of vin not trans code, it is a "V" last letter. I always thought U.S maximas didn't have this only in canada.

I wish i had mechanical knowledge!! For $1200 thats not bad at all and like everyone says you can always pick up tranny at a junkyard!! And i am assuming you are going turbo!! congradulations.
