aftermarket exhaust/muffler question

First off, I have a budget ss y pipe, stock cat, and cattmann stainless cat back. I knew that the cat back and y pipe combo would produce a louder growl; but the loud noise is getting kind of annoying; especially at lower speeds. I know that it produces a nice growl at wot but even at slower speeds its loud. I noticed that the cattmann muffler tip has some sort of webbing/slots on the inside of the pipe. If i were to cut the tip off and just weld on a straight smooth tip; would it quiet some of the noise??? Or should i just buy quieter muffler???? Sorry if im not thorough enough.

I have almost the same setup and had a Stillen tail pipe, it was too loud for me. I ended up changing it back to OEM. It actually sounds pretty good.

I have a dynomax superturbo, and it is dead silent crusing, it is somewhat louder accelerating, but once cruising it is silent

I know you can get resinator tips. I don't know how well they work and you would probably lose some of the hp you gained. They are the same ones you find on the ebay mufflers. They go inside your current muffler tip.

anyone know if its the "webbing/slots inside of the exhaust tip" that are making it soo loud?? would i be better off cutting it off and welding a straight ss tip on? or should i buy a dynomax and just sell my cattmann muffler on ebay? thanks in advance

I'm not too sure about the webbing/slots but if you do decide to sell it let me know.

Either way...I would pay a little extra if you're keeping the nice B pipe and have the muffler shop make a short bend of pipe and add a flange to keep from cutting up your current setup...

you'd need to have the flange from and piping welding in from the axle back. If you look under your car, you will see a flange above teh axle. you need that, plus that short pipe welded to the muffler. It shouldn't take a shop very long to do at all
