Automatic Transmission problem?

Lately Ive notived my auto tranny, when shifting through any gear to park, or to drive or to reverse, no matter what, it feels really stiff, and it doesnt even feel like its shifting. What Im saying is, when I shift from drive to reverse, there was a small bump or kick, but now, the stick is really stiff and it doesnt give that normal little bump anymore.

Any ideas what this could be?
Is anything even WRONG with it?

You got a 95 like mine. How many miles you got on her?

I'm picking up mine from a rebuild tomorrow hopefully. I had a tranny flush too in hopes that i could correct the issue, I changed the TPS too in hopes of saving thousands, but alas there was metal all over my poor tranny and it cost a pretty penny to rebuild. If you plan to add lucas to your flush, then only leave it in there for like a week. If there's no improvement i recommend that you get it outta there and put the dexron II back or else u'll prolly make the condition worse.

Wish you lot's of luck! You don't have any codes yet, which is a good sign.

I think Ill go with just the regular stuff, I dont think Ill try doin the lucas. Havent heard anything good about it.

Now if its doing this, does it mean its low, or needs to be flushed, or just both?

what color is the fluid? Pop the hood and check...should be blood red, not brownish. Smell it: Does it smell burnt (BAD BAD BAD)? Check the level? Is it low? Since you've got some mileage, I don't really see an issue with flushing it, make sure you check the fluid beforehand. If you have any symptoms of a tranny going down hill, take it to a specialist immediately, don't wait like i did.

As for a swap...I wouldn't do it. We could buy a whole manual maxima off autotrader from a granny for the cost of a manual swap. I've heard of swaps going for 3500 going bad (see the nyc max forums). Boy am i glad i didn't manual swap it.
