I got my bearing for 40ish from napa with a 15% discount from the school i went to...and honostly without a press it was a pita. Getting the hub off and whatnot was not a problem but getting the bearing in and out was rough(i ended up finding a buddy with a press just to get the thing done), If you can find a bearing and hub together and if its a decent price it'd prolly be a much simplier process, that is unless you have yourself a press.

im not doin this myself.. and im not going the spend the money and time to take a chance on used parts. especially something like a bearing. im going to buy new parts, and have them installed.. i have no time for this car anymore. at least with new stuff theres a far less chance of replacing a bad part with another bad part. but thanks for the responses.

did you replace your hub because of an accident or a wheel shimmy?

If you're havin someone else do it, be sure to ask about warranty. I'm sure you're right that a new part is less likely to break again. I know AutoZone bearings don't have warranty (they do carry 1 with 3 months warranty, but that's so short). Good luck.

I don't think it's necessary to get a whole new knuckle - but the cost of pressing might make it worthwhile. I brought my knuckles to a shop and they charged me $100 in labor to switch the bearings. So if you plan to DIY, I would consider all new assemblies only if the difference in price is $75 or less.

I have one spare Nissan front bearing, new in package. $30 shipped in case anyone is interested.

Also check out Napa for the bearings, and buy the premium brand (Timken, Torrington, SKF) if there are more than one option. It will be as good or better than Nissan's, but for less $$.

My dad has been doing suspension for over 30 years and i have been working with him for 15 years and by what your telling me it does not sound like a bearing. Usually bearings will give you a vibrating sound throughout the car. Shimmys are caused by a loose front end, bent wheel, bulge in tire, wheel balance bad. Jack up the car and see if you can move that wheel.

The weirdest one is this guy had 20psi in the front tires and when the tires cold it creates a flat spot till the tire warms up. So he had a shimmy only when tires were cold.

Anyways i hope this helps
