Definitely not for a 4th gen Max. You can buy projector headlights for 5th gens, but they are ****-poor projectors, and halogen ones at that.

HID projectors for a 4th gen cost a pretty penny. Especially those of us with duals and bi-xenons

They look good. Have you gotten the new bulbs yet? How do you think they would look with HID kit? I think im gonna pick me up a pair.

I haven't gotten the new bulbs yet, those will have to wait.

If you want to put HIDs in them I would say don't do it. They are not true projectors, they don't have a sharp cutoff. They are meant to be more of true fog lights rather than driving lights, meant to scatter lots of light low and to the sides. A 3000k HID kit might LOOK ok in them, but the actual output would be way too scattered to be useful.

If you want HID fogs, either keep the stock housings (I wouldn't reccomend it) or invest in some true projector fogs with a cutoff. That's a good bit more $$$ though.

Thats what i figured about the HID. I would love to do a kind of retro with the factory fogs but the housings are a biatch to get apart. I might go the same route as you (they have an interesting pair of halogen fogs for w/halo's for about $50 shipped (woudl be interesting). I only want to have functioning fogs for when i take road trips especially for UK football games since I-64 in KY is where i hit the deer. And had my foglights been working i believe i could have avoided it. By the way how much are the blubs you are lookin at? I think i may just be a little copy cat.

Roughly $25 shipped off eBay. They are 3000k 100w bulbs. Not sure if I'll mess with my wiring or not, though. Since they are 100w, I'm wondering if maybe I should find a different way to wire things (than through the factory wiring) so I don't melt anything.

With that high of a bulb i would deffinitely wire it different. Run it off the battery with an inline fuse like you woudl do with an amp, that should take car of any melting problems and you could splice a toggle switch in there if you didnt want to mess with the factory switch. You think that would work?

That's just it, I want to be able to use the factory fog switch. I know nothing about wiring, how the heck would I do that while still using power from the battery?

Try placing fuses inline on the factory wires, i see no reason why that wouldnt work. There has to be a write up or something.

That might restrict the bulbs, though. As in, not get enough power for them to run at full potential. I know I had 65w bulbs in my old headlights before switching to projectors and they were no brighter than stock.

Also, an inline fuse would not prevent me from frying the wires entirely I don't think, just prevent overload.

You need to get rid of your sidemarker bulbs. I did, and it looks MUCH better at night. Especially since you have the stockers in. Doesn't match. Pure orange and white at night is great

Hmm, maybe I should. Never thought about taking them out. I've been more focused on getting this poor car painted.

Do you mean take the bulbs out completely and not replace them? Or put different ones in?

Yes, take them out completely. You can still twist the socket in place like usual, just don't have a bulb in there. Personally I think it looks much cleaner, especially for those of us with projectors and what not.

BTW, I never even thought about a relay. RockfordMax proposed that idea to me for keeping the stock fog switch and using the battery for power.

I think I will do that.

I never though about that either. If you try it out let me know.

I may try it out on monday. Won't have time until then. You also have to understand that I suck at wiring, so we'll see how this goes

I'm hoping for brighter lighting just from doing that, even with the stock bulbs. The guys who use upgraded conversion harnesses to do the 9007 conversion notice a good increase in brightness, so I'm hoping that will hold true in this case as well. These fogs are great, they just need to be BRIGHTER! I may try and take one apart and spray paint the inside chrome, because I don't think there's any actual reflector to it...just the metal backing that holds the bulb inside.
