Keyless entry tone?

i recently purchased and installed a keyeless entry remote on my 98 GXE. everything works fine, but i was just wondering if there was a way to make the car beep when i lock / unlock it. and is the panic button supposed to make the alarm go off immediately after you push it or what? the only way for me to sound the alarm by remote is by holding the lock button down, so the panic button is kind of useless as far as i know.

Check the stickies. You can rig a radioshack buzzer to sound when you lock the car. The panic button works after you hold it down for 1-2 seconds.

ahh, i checked before i posted, but the only thing i saw was a how to on installing the remote. i wasn't sure if the car already had a buzzer or something because my dad's truck has an option for turning it on or off.

Yeah as aussie said you need to read. There's been like 3 threads about this in the past month. Don't do the vq mod. It doesnt work and its not neccesary. Buy a buzzer from radioshack and splice into your orange and your green/orange wires in the trunk. Thats how I did it. It will only beep when you lock the car.

It worked just fine for me

And it you hook it up to the lines that flash the hazards, it'll beep during lock or unlock, since the hazards flash during locking and unlocking.

At least that's how I remember it, I haven't used the stock remote for the alarm for a month or two now.

i don't think my hazards flash when i unlock. and i only visit this forum very rarely and since there's no real search for me to use, i figure why not post a new thread. i just wanted to make sure there wasn't a stock buzzer or something, since there's not, i don't want to bother w/ it.

Yeah the flashers dont flash when you unlock the car. But the vq mod isnt even neccesary. Its stupid to spend the time wiring it all and soldering relays and everything. You just tie the black and red wires to the orange and green/orange wires....but its your waste of time. 10 minutes most just splicing wires.
