you're tinting the windshield?... I wouldn't do that.. but if i did, I wouldn't go darker than 50%.
35% is just fine for the rest in my opinion... but who cares, right?

In the city you will be perfectly fine. 20% on a 4th gen is surprisingly lighter than most cars. In the boonies it it obviously be darker.

I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume he's talking about the front 2 windows, nad not the windshield

Yes thats what i was thinking about. There is no point to pay 200$ to go 35 on maxi. So today by 4 o'clock i will be happy owner of black max + black tint (i think )

5% is nice. My buddy just yesterday had his Blazer done with 5% and it is ridiculously dark.

Here in the near future will be doing 15% on the sides, back, and moonroof, 35% on the windshield.

On my last car, i had 35%, but was not happy with it. Was too light. Just put 15% on last weekend on my current ride, and it's much better than 35% and not bad at all at night.

I kind of wish I did 5% though. Guess i'll wait until the next car to do that.

Was goign to do the sunroof 35%, but the guy said lots of people's sunroofs crack when you do that.

I have 15% all around and the only problem at night is when I turn, it's hard to see out of the left side window because your headlight doesn't light up the area. It's especially noticible when i try to pull into my driveway.

Yeah I'm not sure what kind of lighting you have around your cars...but I have 20% in the back and is hard to see out of without lights. Backup lights do jack for me. Pretty sure 15% is hard to see out of...odd this post came up tho haha I just got pulled over last night because of tints. Apparently I needed to have them checked at dmv...gotta have them inspected within 20 days or $136 is coming out of my pocket...not cool

Knock on wood, ive had mine tinted like they are and have never been pulled over for it, though in KY they cant pull you over for it alone it something they can site you for after the fact. The only problem is the tinted windshiled is nice but with out the 5% eyebrow the sun is bright as hell if it comes through the front, so im goin back here soon to have a strip at the top pulled of an 5% put up. Also as for not being able to see, roll down the windows.

In the nighttime, it 20% does decrease visibility, however I like it regardless. If I didn't need to get them (to protect my car from theft), I probably wouldn't have spent that money on tint, but I'm not disapointed now.

Well thats personal preference. I dont want to have to roll down my windows to see when I turn. The look isn't worth more then being able to see.

True about the personal preference i respect that. I have it on my car because of look, security (in dash tv that i dont want stolen), and functionality (if you have ever been in the Ohio valley region you know what im talking about, hot as hell in the summer and the tint helps reduce the heat), it also protects the interior from fading in the sun.

As for the rolling down the windows, i used to have to do that, i got the new retrofit and you wouldnt believe how much wider the light pattern is, that being said if you go dark like me or darker spend the cash for the retro to be safe at night. IMO

You will get used to 20 just fine. Its about the darkest I would go for nighttime driving.

20% isn't bad at all. Think of it this way, consider them as auto-dimming mirors.

I took mine off cuz I got tickets for them. Not good in NYC! =/

Im an owner of a 1995 Maxima which currently has 5% on all my windows with an exception of the rear window which has 20%..The reason why I have 20% on the back window is simple, i want to be able to see out of it at night...In conclusion, 20% is not dark at all at night.

How does tinting your car protect you from theft? The darker your tints the more exciting the theft gets because he wants to know whats your hiding..

Would you rather break into a car with no tint and amp wiring showing, blatantly telling you there's something in there of worth? Or would you pass over that one to go and "find out" IF the car with the tint is worth the trouble?
I had amp wiring running down both sides of the car, and it stuck out like a sore thumb. After my tint, you'd have to REALLY look to see it.
I'd rather hide it than display it.

Tinted Windshield

I was talkin to my buddy from New Orleans, and he said everyone rolls with limo all around, but you need to carry a doctors note, auth on drivers license, or sticker posted on the windshield (sensitive eyes, senstive skin etc.) in case you get pulled over. I'll do some research about this, is anyone well versed on the subject in the meantime?

I plan on doing 20-35% on the front after getting my "authorization". Can anyone vouch for cracked sunroof glass with > 35% tint?

I had limo tints on my volkswagen jetta black on black on black, great for the hot sunny days, bad at night, (I had to open the window to move backwards ) and very bad with johnny law. The tickets i have gotten out of with the sensitive eyes excuse which will work, but the time I had to miss work for going to court is not worth it. IMO I would stick with 20% because its dark enough, and around my parts NYPD love picking on imports that are modded and tints is a another reason to get them happy and I dont even want to talk about nASSau

If you live in a state where you can get pulled over for your tint then my advice is to not get it too dark. If you live in a state that they cant pull you over for your tint then i say ***** to the wall and tint it as dark as you want and just dont drive like a dumb @$$.
