Rims or suspension
What do you all think i should get next? I have the money for both and i figure after tirer they will both cost about the same. The only reason i want rims first is because i want to get a decent size tire and i want to make sure i have the clearance. Give me some opinions

rims without lovering the car looks weird and the other way around. What kind of suspension and rims r u looking at? you can find out if u'll have enough clearance before u even buy all this stuff, and it would be a right thing to do instead of finding it out while trying to put everything on.

Read post #3. Im looking at some h-techs/koni yellows or i might get the tien coilovers. I dont want a huge drop to begin with just enough to lower the center of gravity and give it a more agressive look.

buy suspension first....you will be happier it will look better than just wheels, and it makes the car more fun. what type of suspsension do you want? if you gow ith springs and strut you will have more than enought clearnce, just as long as you pick the correct tire size
like 235/40/18

So now i guess the question is what suspension . Like i said i like the idea of h techs/yellows, but yellows are expensive and i can get illuminas for a godd price. I may go progress/yellows. Does anyone know or maybe point me in the right dirrection so i can find the difference in drop between springs offered for our cars.

You are right the struts will blow eventually. But in the meantime you have a lowered car with wheels instead of a 4X4 or a lowered car with goofy looking stock wheels. Besides I thought you were going to replace the struts eventually anyway. It's your call though of course.

I would like to get the ride right before i drop some cash on the wheels.

But asside from that i guess it depends both on your money and what kind of ride you want. heres a couple threads on the topic

I am runnin stock struts with sprints, I have about...160K or so on my struts and they havent blown yet, I put them on at like 130K maybe. I would not go my route tho becuase when you do get struts if not at the same time you have to do the job all over again..waste of time. As for the G forces, I worked at Discount tire and my boss drove an s2000 and had those on his car and he would recommend those for performance in a heart beat so good choice..pricey tho. and I would go suspension first

If you have the money for struts and springs I would do them first. H-techs would be fine on stocks and you can get wheels too if you decide that route, the only problem is after a while you may want to go lower. The coilovers would get 3 birds with one stone (struts and springs) and you can go as low as the Teins allow.
Cheapest route: H-techs only
Next cheapest : Tein coilovers and stocks
Pricey: Coilovers and rims

how am I determining, there is no 'bouncy bounce' after I hit a bump. Its not as soft but I can tell when I hit a bump the car goes down and back up once. kinda like a cushion I can just feel the car. How do you determine that they are blown?

And to check if they're blown you look for leakage and if possible remove them to see how well they return to the extended position once compressed.

yeah I have already taken all 4 off of one of my max's and put them on another and there was no leakage or anything. I plan on replacing them when they need to be replaced, they just dont need to be yet becuase they arent blown

do nto do the just the springs, caue then when you decide to change the struts it will be double the work, cause you gotta do it again......if you are looking for a spring strut combo do not worry about rims not fitting they willl if you go along with the recommended tire sizes unless you cut the sorings and get real low.

blown or worn struts will make the car ride like grandmas 84 cadallac. most cars will bounce once going over bumps, with bad struts youll just keep on bouncing, like a boat of choppy waters kind of

thats alot more money than getting some coilovers. what size rims you trying to get? because those tires are a lot of money. you have to put it this way, do you want handling? or you want looks?

you got an se, right? get a new suspension first. the dude who said that the car looks weird w/new rims and not lowered is right, plus the se wheels look alright with it lowered. you can always get the wheels later. just my two cents.
