Brake pad replacement...How to?
#1
Need some help guys. Been getting some grinding/creaking when braking hard with my 97 SE 5spd. Bought the car used 2yrs ago with 49K and just turned 72K. Probably time for a brake pad change. Haven't ever done this before so my question is:
1) can a relative newby change pads?
2) any special tools required? I've got wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers and torque wrench.
3) anyone have a "how to" site with directions (yes, I've looked and have used the search feature)
Lastly, what pads do you recommend? I've been looking at the EBC Green Stuff pads but have seen in previous posts that they stop great but generate a great deal of dust contrary to their advertisements.
BTW, I did read the "sticky" at the top of the forum.
Thanks in advance.

Yes. Fronts are easier than rears. In general, front pads wear twice as quickly as rears so you may need only fronts at this time.

Yup, getting a bit lazy. I'll check my Haynes manual. Was hoping that someone had posted the info with pictures, step by step. I've done some other mods using the "guys" directions and they've been easy/painless.
Still need some input on the EBC pads though.
Thanks again, Dan B.
