Front Suspension parts

A couple questions for those of you that have replaced front suspension parts.

1. Did you buy them online or at a parts store? Was the quality and the price better than driving to the local store?

2. I bought my parts from Car Quest, b/c I wanted the Moog parts. He advised me that I don't have to replace the tie rods even tho the car has 245,xxx miles on it.
It would have been a little over $300 for eveything. I passed on the tie rods for now, but it was still $198 and change for everything else.
What is your opinion on not replacing the tie rods and is the price significantly different from what some of you paid for your parts?

Thanks
