sigh...how often do we see this? First, do you have the Bose speakers? Unless you have the Schose (sp?) adaptor it won't sound good as the Bose speakers work off two (or is it one ohm, plus a slightly different level signal).
Second, and this is probably what happened to you, is to make sure that the remote amp turn one wire is connected. Each speaker has it's own amp. If the remote amp turn on wire on the HU is not connected, you won't have any sound. So recheck your wiring, and get that adaptor if you don't already have it. You can get them on ebay or Crutchfield.

You had it right, Bose speakers are 2 Ohm and self amped. If you are using the Bose speakers make sure you have the 6 wires per speaker hooked up in the back of the head unit. They have power, signal, ground and remote wire to the individual amp and then 2 more going to the speaker for the high/low pass filters on each speaker. By the way, to much dismay Bose are not that good of speakers. There is a saying we have in the Labs at school. "No Highs, No Lows, Buy Bose."

I've heard it as "no highs, no lows, must be Bose" .

Don't forget tho, listening tastes are individual. I like how my Boses sound. I do have an aftermarket head unit and it made them sound better than with teh factory unit. I don't listen to music with a lot of emphasis. I prefer slightly positve of flat, and I get good definition and clarity.
But if you like a lot emphasis, then yes there are better choices.

In my car I use the parametric EQ to cut peaks in my system, this way I can try to get a flatter frequency response. When I measure the frequency response in my car it is not flat, this is with all of my settings to zero. I have a couple of problem areas in there (peaks). Pretty hard to get good definition and clarity with a stock sound system, as you cannot adjust for these abnormalities which can cause music to sound boomy or harsh at times. This along with actory speakers in our cars makes it even harder. Factory speakersjust cannot compare to a good set of aftermarket components. If you like stock that's fine, but some people with aftemarket systems go this route to get good definition and clarity . We do not do it for emphasis on certain frequencies, just emphasis on good sounding music is all .
