Do I need new calipers??

A few weeks ago, I replaced the front pads on my Max. Now I'm hearing the pads slightly rubbing the rotors when making a turn. It doesn't rub hard enough to cause a major problem, just a slight 'shhhh' sound. I think over time that this may cause the pads to overheat and cause premature wear. The car has over 129,000 miles; do the calipers need to be replaced??

technically, the recomended replacement period for calipers is every time you do your brakes. this obviously would become quite expensive, therefore that is the reason noone does it. my max has 121,500 and to my knowledge the calipers have never been changed. when you changed your pads are you sure that you squeezed the piston back in all the way? that might be the problem if you didnt

Yeah, I pushed the piston in till it stopped. I did this very slowly with a big 'C' clamp using one of the old pads against the piston. I know the piston went in evenly. Sounds like the calipers aren't retracting enough.
