Checked my car today...wish i hadn't!!!
I went to the mechanic and he lifted my car up for the first time since i bought it...what a mistake that was.
My rear engine seal is leaking...it seems pretty bad to me but i'm not really loosing the much oil, it's still the same level it was a month ago. The mechanic quoted my 350 to replace the rear engine seal....OMFG!!! for a 30 piece!!!
When he was lifting it, when it was barely off the ground i already noticed my front strut boots are all
so are my bushings and my rear left boot.
Basically i wanted to know if i should just replace all 3 boots or just replace all 4 struts. The mechanic said 50 dollard per strut no matter if it's just the boot or the whole thing. And 30 for each bushing to replace. Are these good prices? should i get stock SE stuff or what would u guys recommend.
I Also asked him to check my axles...he said there tip-top so i'm gonna be putting in the new amsoil oil and my ss clutch line tomorrow.

But what should i do about the suspension?
For the suspension that is good price. The first time I went to get a quote on my suspension, I was told $150 a corner. On another note, go into your local forum and put a post "willing to pay someone to changes struts" thread. A lot of people do this and you could probably save some money. And this is a good time to get a drop if you don't have one.
so what should i get? should i just change the boot or struts or spring i don't even know what i should change...someone point me into a good direction plz as to what i should change and what i should get...Thanks alot all for the imput sofar.
do u guys need or do we need chamber kits or stuff like that??
my boots are hashed but teh struts are fine. its no biggie to me if car was dropped if it'll provide more probs, but i would try change to an afterkmarket OE strut like tokiko and some other. im not sure which one it is.

mine struts and everything is fine...it's just the sand boot that's ripped on 3 sides. I can't stand the fact that it's ripped. What do i need to lower the car...i don't have 800 or so to drop on a new suspension, but what would i need to just lower the car without full suspension.
P.S. If you haven't already noticed I AM A COMPLETE UBER NOOB.

The reason the labor is so much is to change the boots they have to completely take out the struts and disassemble the strut assembly to get a new boot in there. The price of labor probably wouldn't go up much, if at all, if you changed springs while they did it, they have to take them off anyways. That's all you'd need to lower your car is a new spring set and camber bolts to correct the alignment. Spring sets can vary but you should be able to get a decent set for around $200.
I didn't mean i didn't wanna know what's going on, all i meant was that i coulda lived without finding out that i have all these problems.
Anyway i did some quick research and i think i should get the AGX shocks and struts. Any comments on that? Hows the ride comfort? and handling on them?

Yeah thats no BS! After you go to the stealership, you may want to KISS your mechanic!! Those suspension labor prices he gave you are very good! (I know, I work at the stealer!
) If yer in there anyways, I'd always recommend doing the struts too! HOWEVER, if you are on a budget and dont want to spend the money and your struts feel fine.. just buy 4 new boots (I recommend OEM on these, though..), a set of 1.5" lowering springs ($100-200/set - look around, and dont forget eBay can be your friend! LoL).. then bring them to your mechanic, and have him call you when its done!

Listen...if you want to lower your car, you have to change BOTH your springs and your struts. Yeah the springs will lower your car but the OEM struts can't take that pressure and they will blow out on you quickly once your car is lower. If your gonna do it.....do it RIGHT! Change both your springs and struts, it will save you time and $ in the long run. I personally would recommend H&R springs which are like $250 and Tokico Illumina Shocks which were $300. Thats what I have and they are a nice ride. Of course they are rougher than OEM springs and shocks...but i'll live. If your not willing to spend the $ to get your suspension done correctly then leave it stock. Fix the leak now n save up for the suspension kit later.
hey guys what do you think about um... S-Tech Springs w/ KYB GR2?
Since the GR2's aren't adjustable i can get the s-tech which go 2.2in front and 1.8in rear...i can actually afford this! How's the ride on these and is the stance good and the handling? Thanks

i want a new suspension very quickly since the summer is coming. I don't want coilovers but the illuminas and the konis are pretty expensive. I'm now looking at the Tein H-tech's and the GR2's because they pretty much fall under the price range, don't forget i'm gonna have to lay out another 300 for the install so the H-techs and the GR2 is gonna run me 450.
