cold air intake -help-

Two and a half feet of flex hose $5 - funnel $1.50 - homemade cold air intake priceless . Ok with that out the way I made a cold air intake installed it and it works fine . My problem is that while driving ,idle is good but coming to a stop or depressn the clutch the rpm drops and stalls the engine . My quess is that it has to do with the air\fuel ratio am i correct in this assumption ? How would one go about addusting the air\fuel mix . In advance thanx to all .

Did you do anything else to affect the idle? I don't think a homemade CAI would do that.

Did you disconnect any of the wiring? If you did, recheck the connections.

flex hoses and funnels... i wonder what you did. pictures would definitely help. if this happened only after the custom intake install than you should check all the connections. make sure the air temp sensor is connected and your maf sensor is back in place although any of those wouldn't just shut the car down.... maybe your not getting enough air when your throttle butterflies are closing as you slow down. can't really tell you anything before we see some pictures.

check the fluid as well. Even low blinker fluid can kill a good CAI.

Ok I installed it after the maf senser didn't disconnect anything and it didn't do this before . I can feather the throttle or down shift and it not cut off .

I had this issue for awhile when I made mine (although I didn't take QUITE the same approach as you) and had the same problem. Could not figure out for the life of me what it was. Then my buddy noticed that everything wasn't quite "together" real tight, so I tried a few things to get all my piping sealed up better, and that did the trick for the most part. So make sure all your connections (in the piping, tubing, whatever) are as tight as possible.

ok, nobody sees that the "funnel" is AFTER THE MAF and FILTER?

You could be sucking up dirt and rocks, with no way to filter them. Looks like it rained the night before, water's an issue as well. Also, I doubt that would give any gains at all. your MAF sensor is getting an inaccurate reading as well.

Change it back to stock, your car will behave normally.

I put a inline filter to the throttlebody so it wouldnt get debre or water in there so I'll try to seal everything up nice and tight . If that doesn't work I'm going to reroute the piping to the cone filter . thanx alot and yes I am ghetto fabulous

still doesn't change the fact that your MAF's not getting a correct reading.

When you suck up air that hasent gone past the MAF sensor, your car will not work properly. This is the reason why your car stalls on you while driving. If you want to make a "ghetto fabulous" intake. Run some type of piping before the MAF, not after.

I wish images weren't blocked at school. Now that I'm home...WOW. You are completely oblivious to how our intake system works. Follow what was said above to fix your problem.

What's with the valve cover breather? You have the stock intake resonator and a place to "plug" it into and yet you leave an open port and put a breather filter on the end of the hose coming from the valve cover? That will cause issues as well if you don't atleast plug up the resonator hole.

What is your problem?

I didnt' read all of the posts, but I would up the idle if you havent already tried this. I had the problem with my motorcycle, not that it's the same, but when I would stop it would cut off. I upped the idle and it has been fine.

Please ignore this man's comment. This will not fix your problem, we've told you what your problem(s) are.

Thanks, FL600, but this won't fix his problem.

That was the most ridiculous, obsurd, very eye hurting thing I have ever seen done to a Maxima intake. Next time read more before you do anything.
