Headlight Flashes on and off

Headlight Flashes on and off

Ill be driving at night and then all of the sudden my headlight will shut off for a second and then come right back on. It has done this recently and has happened more frequently as time has gone on. Then i noticed that when in am sitting in park with the car running and then when i turn the car off the lights dim when the engine shuts off. The lights also dim when i roll the windows down and up. Do i need a grounding kit?

As for the light turning off and on, I had that start to happen, changed the bulbs(easy) and no more problems.

You might have a weak or an alternator going bad, if your lights dim when rolling down the window.

If you use over-wattage headlight bulbs, it could be your bulb sockets melting inside. Never use one w/o using an upgraded headlight harness.

I agree with DR-Max, I put a higher wattage bulb in and fried my wiring harness, my lights got so bad they stopped coming on altogether. Luckily though you can get a new one from AutoZone for cheap.

Turn the acessories on and then turn on your headlights/roll windows up and down. This causes the lights to dim a lot then i would put money on that it is your alternator.
