Do i HAVE TO jack it up?
From obd-codes.com/trouble_codes...
P0153 = Oxygen Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank2, Sensor1)
and according to the thread I linked on the first page,
P0133 = Bank1
So apparently their not the same, sorry. :blushes: If their pretty old, I'd consider replacing all of them. I'm personally planning on doing this ever 66k, though they could probably make it to 100k.
FYI I just bought an NTK from sparkplugs.com for $77 shipped. A lot cheaper than other sites, and though a bit more than a Denso, it appears to be better quality.

I have a 76 mile roundtrip per day, 70 of it is straight hwy! 80-90 mph baby! No speed traps and vwery little traffic. It's miles like those that remind me why I love my Max! I figure 16 gal tank x 2.97 for 91 octane = $48 per tank. 385 miles per / 16= 24 mpg! Can't complain about that now can I? When my wife drives she gets 430-440 per tank. But she doesn't drive the Max the way it is supposed to be driven. Her normal driver is an 06 Civic I got her. Now that rig gets 455 per tank but it has a 13 gal tank. Need I mention Civics are for broads?!

455 miles on a 13 gallon tank? That gives me a HARD ON! My 96 corsica got great milage. This maxima is horrible 330 per tank
Well the Maxima really can have excellent miles/gal, but it can be really _exhausting_. Reminds me of that TopGear episode from late '04 when Clarkson drove an Audi 800miles on one tank...even Audi said it was impossible.
Anyways, when I was in school about 8months ago when gas went up, and really tight on money, I limited my self to 1.5k max rpm during acceleration and a resulting top speed of 40 miles/hr -- yes, you read that right. It was truely exhausting, and I doubt I'll ever go that extreme again, but I just about doubled the amount of time I usually lasted on one tank. I never did calculate the mpg, but it certainly broke the 30mpg mark.
JK98SE5, www.sparkplugs.com had the best prices. They had the non-universal denso for $58, but I went ahead and spent the $10 more on the non-universal NTK. I had only seen one other place that carried the NTK and they were selling it for almost twice as much.
FYI to all the O2 sensor changer first-timers like me. You may want to peruse this thread, which isn't Nissan/Maxima specific, but still has a lot of great info.

I found it when looking for reviews of oxygensensors.com / automedicsupply.com, but sparkplugs.com, which one poster mentioned there, was cheaper for me.
Also, try using brake cleaner if you're going to clean the O2 sensor, rather than replacing it right off.
Oh, and AutoZone will loan you the O2 sensor wrench kit you _need_ for free, so look them up in your phone book.

As others have said stay away from silicone (with an e), which is in WD-40 by the way. Never use WD-40 near an oxygen sensor or in the intake or exhaust tract of an engine (at least prior to the O2 sensor). Use Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster or Kroil instead. Same goes with teflon lubricant sprays. Oxygen sensors have porous membranes in them, silicone and teflon can survive under very high heat conditions and plug the pores in the membrane (they can also coat your catalyst in the converter making it less effective). You should always put good quality antiseize on the threads of the sensor before installing them, but do *NOT* get it anywhere other than the threads. Bosch sensors (don't know about any others) come with anti-seize on the threads so you don't need to mess with it.
