you have to use a special tool.you can get it from ADVANCE thats where i got mine it looks like a cube it uses a ratchet to screw the piston back in dont us a C-clamp thats what i did and i ruined mine. all u have to do is find the correct pattern on the cube.

Please buy a Haynes and/or Chiltons and/or FSM before working on your car.

You can always try using needle nose pliers and turn real slowly. Be careful or you'll slip.

Yes, for free too. I always use AutoZone's free tool rental service for brake jobs.

Fig. 13: A special tool is available to rotate the caliper piston

Fig. 14: As an alternative, a pair of needle nose pliers can be used

In my opinion, this is the correct tool to use--it is fool-proof and effective. The price has gone way up (what hasn't) as I paid $34 for mine. But who cares, if the auto parts shops let you rent it for free, why not rent the correct one? My friend got exactly this kit for free rental. You change the fitting and it works for the front as well--way easier to use than a c-clamp, same principle.

In a pinch, I used the flat end of a file that fitted perfectl in there and used a pair of vice grips to turn it.
