LED turn-signal & DRL

I completed this mod a few days back. I used three 25000mcd 10mm amber LEDs. I chose amber instead of the yellow cos it's a sharp and contrasting color. I am not sure if it’s bright enough for when the sun is shining directly on the lens, I might have to add another LED or smoke the housing.

I don’t have a good write-up: you pretty much cut the back of the housing and attach the ckt board with the LEDs at the back. The hard part is figuring out the exact angle to place the board...I still need to tweak on the angle. It draws a mere 0.12watts (vs. almost 5watts stock)

here is a pic of the DRL LED addition I made a few months back

just wondering what you guys think.

"useless post"?

Mmmm...pretty. You can tell you dont have LEDs in the rear tails though. Maybe that'll be another project.

I know. Didn't notice the diff much with naked eye, but obvious on video, will be the project after the next.

I like the led turn signals. The drl not so sure about that. I've got factory drl allready and don't need extra lighting.
+1 for innovation!!

wow man that looks soo good i wanted to do this exact thing but couldnt figure somethings out. did you wire it directly to the turn signal bulb wire? someone earlier was telling me about hyperflashing of bulbs made of many leds but i didnt really understand. i understand basic electrical engineering but maybe im missing something about how the car sends the current. the drls also look sweet and bright. 25000 mcd or more? props to u bro

Thanks for the props guys, appreciate it

turn signals: 3 LEDs in parallel thru a current limiting resistor configured to max out at 15V (safety buffer for any alternator spikes, or if one LED went out).

drls are actually six 5mm LEDs (~10000mcd), mounted close to get a single filament look (from a distance)

if u wanna take shot at it, I would be gald to help u out

Thank you for starting your own thread this time

Looks good. I hope you have more covering up the circuit boards now, though. I'd hate to see them get ruined by water!

Good job on them. Simple write up. Now you can do your tail light LED.

I am confused... the first pic indicates you have 3 LED's ( the ones we see lite up)... but lower down. the actual board itself has 4 LED's???

WTF?

nice DIY btw

as I said on the first post, I wasn't sure if it would be bright enough in daylight. After looking at it under direct sunlight and wasn't sure if ppl could see it, so I went and added another LED. I have enough room for about 6 LEDs on the existing board.. I am hoping 4 would be bright enough
