Failed CA Smog with y pipe...help

hey guys,
need some info i failed the California smog check. I've had a stillen ypipe for 5 years and have passed smog twice. i can't find my old ypipe. any ideas as to what i can do. anybody have a similar experience. the only thing i can think is i just changed an 02 sensor and my air idle control valve the same day i got a smog check. this was to get rid of the check engine light/code i had so i could get my test done. any ideas thanks guys

Why did you fail? If you just changed those things and reset the computer, your monitors were probably not ready. Did you fail due to the computer saying that too many (over 2) monitors were not ready?

If this was the case you are going to have to drive the car for a while to get those in line.

In NY from what i know if you have a CEL you can't do the test aswell. If you fix your CEL your gonna have to drive 80 miles for it to completely be out of the system.

P.S. Also in NY if you have a CEL %95 that if you know the right ppl your still gonna pass with the CEL.

You should be fine in a couple days or less....the same thing happened to me last month. I took my battery out to put my stock intake back in, and all the electronic monitors hadn't reset yet. If the monitors are not reset, it is an automatic fail. I passed with my stillen y-pipe so maybe your problem is just those monitors. Best of luck.

I had a problem passing the NY emissions last year. I failed the nox test but that was my fault cause I dumped techron in a couple days earlier and there was still some left in the tank. As soon as I refilled, I brought it back and it passed with flying colors with the y-pipe. My friend also had a similar problem with his 88 camaro. He couldn't pass emissions. He went to autozone and got a bottle of that stuff that guarentees you to pass emissions and it worked. He just made one of the tests and passed with .01 under what is allowed but it was enough to pass. Give it a shot. It's only like 8-10 bucks.

Yeah it's true. If you have a check engine light, they send you home as soon as they see it and fail you. That happened to me the first time I went to inspect my car. About a month after I got the max, the check engine light went on cause of that stupid 0705 evap control system bs. It's been on ever since then and I can't get it to turn off so now everytime I get it inspected, I just reset the ecu with a screw driver and it stays off long enough for me to get it inspected.

After my last post i drove the car up to Fresno from LA. Drove around for a couple of weeks. I just had the car tested and I passed. I failed initially on the 15 mph NO. I passed all catagories this time. thanks for all the input.

You failed the visual for having a Y-Pipe? I didn't think smog techs were that smart. Just go to another smog station. ??

No I failed because I could not pass the emissions limit in the NO category. I was looking for a new y pipe because the pre cats on the y pipe cut down the emissions.

No, the precats only play a role until the car is warmed up. Just make sure you roll in there with your exhaust smokin' hot and you'll be fine.

So, I'm trying to get into the airflow mod'ing side of Max, but I was wondering if WSP means WarpSpeed?
And if WarpSpeed is the same people who are found on EBay under the name "WarpSpeed Performance" or www.warpspeedperformance.com.

Thanks!

FYI
I am looking for headers, Y, and catback.
I will work on intake when I can find a CAI for 3Gen
