AC light's fade in and out?

My AC light's fade in and out, stay lit for a couple seconds and go out for a couple seconds and so on. This has to be a short, RIGHT? My aftermarket radio does this too.
What can i check, what can i do, for this obvious electrical problem?

do you have amp and subs? if so, it could just be they are drawing too much power as the bass hits.

If you just did the install on the HU, I would recheck all of the connection in the back first. Make sure the harnesses are clicked in all the way.

no no i see what you mean but no, i don't have subs or anything. The ac lights and radio will do this with the radio off.

Do the lights just dim, or go completely out?
Another possible cause is the dimmer relay that automatically dims the display when you turn your lights on. It can get stuck. But your problem sounds more like a bad connector.

It's totally random like a bad connection. You would think by hitting the dash, next to the ac, it would cause flickering but it doesn't. It's almost like it's a bad connection DEEP in the dash or something.

I had something similar with this. Get a wire diagram and cut the illumination wires for the faulty equipment. Then splaice into the illumination wire of something that works (Hazard light for instance) and put it in place of the wires you fixed.

This is much easier than actually tracking down the problem.

Also, everything on the center console is on the safe 7.5Amp fuse so you have nothing to worry about overloading it.
