Water Pump. NOOOOOOO!!!!

Man, I really need some help with this. I am on a SUPER tight budget. What do you think? Is it worth it to pay for this kind of thing even when there is a write-up on it. (And yes, I HAVE printed it out)

If you have the time and the tools, i'd say DIY.

I'm currently in a somewhat similiar situation. My 93 max needs a new fuel injector. # 3 has gone bad. I've read stuff in the 3rd gen as well as the Hayes and FSM. While I don't know which injector is #3 I do sort of know how to test them. Shop is quoting me $450 to do it all and I just don't have that kind of money. So this weekend I will attempt it.

Thing to remember is if you get stuck or feel over your head after a few hours you may want to give in and take it to the shop.

bottom line is you have seen the write up and printed it out. now look it over and decide whether or not you are comfortable doing the work. Noone here can decide whether or not you are capable of replacing your water pump, only you know.

its not as hard as people make it seem just take your time. The job isnt very hard but time consuming. Make sure after you loosen the bolts on the wp enough so you can get a magnet in there and un screw them with the magnet because if you drop that screw in the timing cover your ****ed. You will honestly need two people for this job especially to compress the piston.

all you need is a 10mm 3/8 socket w/rachet and a 19mm socket to turn the crank a lil bit.other than that time and the water pump.

LOL that job is serious, i couldnt do for nothing. There was no way I could take off that damn crankshaft damper bolt. I used a braker bar and power tools. You might have to sit there wit a torch and heat the bolt up for awhile to make it soft to loosen, lol it may sound silly but it was da only way for me.
