My motor mounts are torned, I am a noob to this, so what should I do that saves money and works well? should I just get new mounts or I heard people around here saying getting ES mounts and inserting them. What does that mean? Help would be appreciated. Thanks

If your mounts are "torned" then a good alternative to replacing them with OEM mounts is putting in the ES inserts. The inserts have to be pressed in after you take the old rubber out of the mount, and then cut the ring out as well. Or you can buy liquid urethane and fill your mounts...if you choose to do this the car will be down for a few days because the urethane takes a few days to cure.

Where can I find the ES inserts and how much would it cost? My friend is a mechanic and he works at honda, would it make it easier if he does the job there with the tools he has?

I got my from cattman. They are easy to deal with and had good prices. Yes, if you friend has the tools it would be easier from him to do it.

Thanks alot guys.

I have heard the auto front mount can be used but it needs to be massaged with some bending and cutting to fit. I believe "fanaticcrockford" did this to his auto maxima.

Some autos have a bigger housing. You could measure each mount. Rear is hard to get to though and if they are the same size then you are good to go. If not then you might have to buy a MT MM.

can you put liquid urethane in torn mounts though? Where is the write up on this, I think I saw one by mzmtg way back, and was trying to look for that the other day. Anyone have it?

edit: did some searching...if I can get some time to do this this summer, I will. How much more vibration is there at idle?

After breaking in the ES inserts, there's not much more vibration or noise than a remanufactured mount.

ancientwiseone: how soon do you need the mounts? I might be able to do the labor for you (either poly fill or ES inserts), so that all you'd need to do is swap mounts. (3hr downtime to swap mounts). Of course I'd charge for labor and shipping.
