Half DTM's

A couple months ago I redded out the amber in my tails, I decided to black out the housings of my reverse lights. The pics are just to give people an idea of what this setup looks like.

Nice unique look Fr33way. Still nice and bright when you put it in reverse.

It's actually a good bit brighter since there is only the clear plastic lense. Another thing is that the reverse housing has a real crystal look to it at night (similar to a newer car) but I'm sure this is true with all DTMs.

For the people asking about the outers: I just did it the old fasion 95/96r way and used testor's transparent candy apple red. I did about 4 coats on the amber section ONLY and it happens to match.

For the DTM reverse lights I used 2 coats of a glossy black paint meant for plastic. Thanks for all the comments, hopefully I will have a new idea for the headlights (modified AE?) whenever I decide to do them.

while you had the oven (or heat gun) on you should have pulled the outers, separated them and painted the orange piece red. the crap on the outside looks bad and fades over time.

I was going to but they have not started to fade at all, I'm not sure how the pic looks but it matched exactly to the 97-99 red tail.

Decided to match the outers. For whatever reason I didn't really like the Red/Smoked combo. If I ever did go back to red outers I would just paint the amber piece and put it behind the clear lense and put the stock reverse light setup back in. I like the look for now however.

Looks better the 2nd way, nice mod.

If you are thinking of doing a nice headlight mod, you might consider my cefiro clone mod. http://digital.ic3donline.com/ae-cefiro

A friend of mine asked me if we could do that (black housing clear reflector), it looks pretty cool but I like the way the clear section looks with DTM. The HTM still looks a tad cloudy to me. Props on the setups guys.

I'm not big on the DTM. I dont like how the bulb is visible. Seems a little cheesy to me but to each his own.

Very nice write up man, I really like the way they look on a white car.

You totally have me figured out though I have been tossing around headlight ideas all week. We will see, thanks for the link.

I could see how you would think that, they are a tad dim in the day, but NICE and bright at night. They just have more of a crystal look to me.

Who knows how long this will last but for now I am happy with her ass

That super-black looks great BTW.
