Just in case you are itching to start another "illegal or not" thread, here's something for you to read.

I used to keep my plate in the window, and I stopped getting pulled over for not having a front plate.

But it rattled, and would launch like a missle under hard acceleration or cornering. I would use some double stick tape & felt to hold it & keep it quiet.

From a far distance, they need something to bounce their radar/laser off of.

It's kinda like tints on the front doors and windshield... if they can't profile you, they'll pull u over so they can get a good look at you. Common sense stuff... little parts of freedom you give up for the protection they provide. We all kinda went along with it by voting (or not voting). Don't like it? Wanna get rich? Become a politician.

Consider yourself lucky. Try coming out to Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, or Sta. Monica...I can assure you that you will get cited for it.

"yes, sir" and "no, ma'am" goes a long way. Be a punk and they'll get meticulous on ya. Besides, if I were a cop, I'd be affraid to walk in front of a car I just pulled over... never know if I'll get run over.

I've heard some scary stuff about Irvine police, but since working here for 6 months, I haven't seen much "activity". Has Irvine gone soft?

Love your area--I was entertained by a partner in LA this past week. Rode around in his Gemballa biturbo, and he DID have a plate on the front. What's so bad-looking about a front plate? 3-Prom is pretty happening on Fri. nights. Pasadena is cool too, some of my friends went to Cal Tech. It was a blast riding in that car to Vegas, ran into a STS V and don't have to tell you what happened there.

The single most thing that hits me about Cali. is it sure is a nicer place attitude-wise than NY. Also, the so-called 2 million house (4-bed/2.5 bath/2200 sq. ft)in NY is absolutely nothing in LA! It's like big-dog/little dog. When you're the big dog, you be laid-back!

I haven run into any problems with no licence plate. There is even a motor cycle cop right in front of my little brothers school pointing away his radar gun and he hasn't given me any trouble(knock on wood). Anyway it really depends on what area you live in and how the officers in that area are.

Ive gotten pulled over once for not having a front plate in Texas, (Houston) and man, I did everything I could think of. I went to court and said "the car has been in a wreck and Im waiting for the person who hit me and their insurance to settle with me" and they said no dismissal, so I rescheduled and just duct taped it on the front bumper from the back and took a picture, and after about 20 minutes of pleading with the judge over the situation, he finally dismissed it and said dont let it happen again.

Texas Troopers are ****s sometimes.
